Shingle
Creek Golf Club
David Harmon, author of breathtaking (and mind-bending) Kauri Cliffs
in New Zealand, designed Shingle Creek in 2003. While it can’t
rival the drama of Kauri Cliffs’ Pacific Ocean setting, Shingle
Creek does offer golfers a practical, convenient location just a
smooth pitching wedge from the hustle and bustle of International
Drive. As for the course – the 7,213-yard layout sports flattish
fairways bordered by deep swales and modern mounding. Green complexes
are generally elevated and cut into distinct tiers, and the flat-bottomed
bunkers are generally set below the putting surface grade. Shingle
Creek caters to large groups and corporate outings, and its what-you
see-is-what-you-get modus operandi is ideal for a layout crafted
for the masses.
