Champions
Gate Golf Club
ChampionsGate, which opened in 2000, was one of the most highly
anticipated projects to hit Orlando in years. First there was the
designer, Greg Norman, whose name and brand denote a certain level
of excellence. Second, there was the scope of the project –
two 18-hole courses, a commercial center and an Omni Hotel. When
the dust settled, Norman delivered with two highly, if not controversial
courses. The International Course, designed to resemble a British
links, quickly garnered a reputation as a rough and tumbling track
best suited for good sticks. The National Course, an American flavored
circuit, is a little softer and friendlier. Taken together, ChampionsGate
is one of the most impressive high-end offerings Central Florida
has to offer.
